In the middle of June, namely, 13-14 June 2023, another of the series of successful Road Conferences (already the 30th) took place in Ostrava at the Trojhala Karolina. This year's edition was held unusually at the beginning of summer, as the autumn time will belong to other important events. Over 700 individuals confirmed their participation, exhibiting for 51 entities in total. Among the regular stalwarts, there were large construction companies such as Hochtief CZ a.s., SWIETELSKY stavební s.r.o., STRABAG a.s., Vinci Construction CS a.s., which even became one of the main partners and also represented the Student Day.

The name "Road" suggests that the event was mainly about infrastructure, both roads themselves and, for example, bridges and railways. It was addressed by the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Prof. Petr Fiala, PhD, LL.M., and the Minister of Transport of the Czech Republic, Mgr. Martin Kupka. Companies from the field such as the Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic (ŘSD), the Czech Road Society, z.s. and AŽD Praha s.r.o. and others presented themselves on the spot.

Surveyors are needed for every construction, which is why we confirmed our participation in the event in Ostrava as the market leader. And we didn't just stop at the visit, but at a joint stand with GEOSTAR, spol. s r.o., a leading geological and geotechnical company, we presented not only services that have been verifying the quality of work done for over 30 years but also innovations and software in the field of data digitization. Both HRDLIČKA and GEOSTAR belong to the Hrdlička Holding group, which also brings together other entities in the field of geomatics or supplements this field with other interesting areas such as spatial layout of landscapes, electrical design mainly in the field of energy distribution networks or non-profit activities.

Guests were able to see with their own eyes modern devices such as the nine-pound DJI Matrice 300 RTK drone or the Trimble X7 scanner. Thanks to such equipment, it is possible to offer customers 3D data collection methods such as laser scanning, photogrammetry, and others, which are brought together by the BIM3D brand. After all, topics such as BIM (Building Information Model) or Digital Twinning are now finding applications in various building life cycles, making the management of existing and future buildings more efficient and cheaper.

The delegation of HRDLIČKA, spol. s r.o. consisted of the main representatives of the company headed by the owner Ing. Martin Hrdlička, who founded the company 33 years ago with his father Miroslav, a specialist surveyor. In addition, both sons Ondřej and Vojtěch Hrdličková came, who continue the family legacy and are actively involved in the daily operation. Of course, Executive Director Jan Floriánek and other managers from the business and the geodata department were also present. On behalf of GEOSTAR, spol. s r.o. the event was attended by Executive Director Ing. Mgr. Jiří Nekl, Sales Director Mgr. Marián Bošanský or specialists in geotechnics and its calculations and designing.

MAWIS, the professional builder's portal, had a separate area within the stand. In the last few years, it has grown to offer a wide range of geomatics services for the public, local government and technical infrastructure entities. The MawisPhoto application, which can produce 3D models of buildings based on data taken with a mobile phone, was available for visitors to try out at the stand via a 3D viewer with the ability to measure dimensions, and calculate cubic capacity or area. The advantages of using MawisPhoto are appreciated in the Czech Republic by big players such as Pražské vodovody a kanalizace, a.s., but they also make sense to business partners abroad: mainly in Hungary, Germany, Slovakia, and Ukraine.

The Road Conference also gave space to students. Around 300 students from secondary schools, mostly industrial or construction schools, registered. The partner of the Student Day was the VINCI Construction CS Group and the University of Mining in Ostrava. As HRDLIČKA spol. s r.o. also regularly tries to provide education and practical demonstrations at schools, it also invited students to its stand. They were able to ask the experts various questions and see modern devices.
