HRDLIČKA spol. s r.o. has collaborated on several projects with the Road and Motorway Directorate in the past. Thanks to its good results, team of experts, and technical equipment, it is also participating in the project to complete additional sections of the D6 motorway, which runs from Prague through Karlovy Vary to Cheb and ends at the German border.
The D6 motorway is a strategic key transport project connecting Prague with Karlovy Vary and Cheb, continuing to the state border with Germany. As part of the TEN-T international road network and the E48 and E49 European routes, it is of fundamental importance for international and domestic transport. The project aims to construct a modern, four-lane divided highway in the D 25.5/130 category, replacing the outdated I/6 road that passes through towns.
Preparations for the D6 motorway date back to the late 1980s. Sections Prague–Nové Strašecí (30 km, 2008), Karlovy Vary bypass (8.9 km, 2007), and sections in the Karlovy Vary Region completed in 2010–2012 were gradually put into operation. The completion of the Lubenec–Bošov section in 2015 and the Nové Strašecí–Řevničov sections in 2020 represented significant milestones. The latest addition is the Krupá section, which was completed in August 2024.
HRDLIČKA spol. s r.o. is participating in the construction of the "D6 Petrohrad – Lubenec, D6 Lubenec – bypass, stage II" motorway section with its surveying services. The entire construction measures a total of 12.106 km and is one of the largest transport constructions in Czechia. Construction began in July 2024. The expected completion of the construction is planned for the end of 2027, with part of the motorway connecting to the Lubenec bypass. This section is planned to be put into operation at the turn of 2025/2026. The motorway section comprises 170 structures, including 16 bridges, a grade-separated junction in Černčice, and other key elements essential for the motorway's construction. One of the bridges will even span the dam in Kryry (Louny district), which is planned to be built between 2034 and 2041.
The contract for the construction was awarded to a consortium of EUROVIA CZ a.s., BERGER BOHEMIA a.s., and Stavby mostů a.s.
HRDLIČKA spol. s r.o. is responsible for the activities of an authorized surveying engineer – contractor (AZI-Z) on the construction of the Petrohrad – Lubenec, Lubenec – bypass II. stage motorway section, i.e., comprehensive surveying services during the construction of the motorway.
It should be noted that this is a relatively prestigious and important role on the construction site. After all, AZI-Z is responsible for the geodetic setting out and surveying of individual building structures, checking the correctness of the setting out and surveying, as well as for the preparation of documentation of the actual construction in accordance with the valid regulations of the Road and Motorway Directorate, up to the creation of geometric plans and the preparation of documents for the final approval of the construction.
Mastering such an important task is by no means easy. It requires a combination of technical knowledge, practical skills, precision, and the ability to collaborate with various professions.
Everything depends on establishing good communication with construction management, individual construction designers, site managers, client representatives, and other experts who have various questions or requests. A surveyor is a key technician without whom the construction would literally fall apart.
Modern surveyors no longer work only with theodolites and tape measures. In highway construction, they use state-of-the-art equipment ranging from high-precision robotic total stations (i.e., one-man systems) to GNSS devices, drones with cameras for continuous construction monitoring and rapid mapping of large areas, and mobile and static laser scanners for 3D point clouds and the subsequent creation of 3D models of complex structures.
Given the technologies described above, it is clear that surveyors themselves must be technically proficient and have good organizational skills. From the subsequent data collection, they must be able to use surveying software to calculate the coordinates of detailed points, calculate volumes from point clouds, create sections to check the implementation against the project documentation, or simply calculate an orthophotography map and display it to builders.
On the D6 construction site, we also encounter heavy earth-moving machines that are guided by GNSS technology or by total stations directly from the points of the basic construction stakeout network.
Our task is also to prepare 3D models for these machines so that they are able to modify the original terrain in real time in the cuts of the newly built road, or to bring material to future embankments.
Thanks to all these modern technologies and good coordination and cooperation with the construction site, we are managing to meet the construction deadlines set by the client relatively well.
The main route of the motorway runs through the cadastral areas of Kolešov, Bílenec, Petrohrad, Stebno, Černčice, Malměřice, Mukoděly, and Ležky.
The motorway construction in the Petrohrad – Lubenec section has a total of 9 bridges, 5 road overpasses, 1 railway overpass, and 1 footbridge for pedestrians and cyclists.
One of the most interesting and complex structures is the 642 m flyover across the Bílenec Valley. It is a 13-span perpendicular continuous monolithic prestressed box girder bridge on the axis of the main motorway route with H-shaped pillars.

Furthermore, in the Petrohrad – Lubenec, Lubenec – bypass II stage section, it was necessary to carry out additional work, which was provided by specialists from other companies:
The completion of the D6 motorway will significantly improve transport accessibility in the West Bohemian region and strengthen international transport links with Germany. The technically demanding implementation requires a coordinated approach from all professional disciplines, with surveying services forming the basis for the successful implementation of all complex construction projects.
With its professional approach and experience in surveying services for transport structures, HRDLIČKA spol. s r.o. is contributing to the implementation of this strategically important project, which will change the transport map of the Czech Republic.
The D6 project is proceeding according to schedule, with completion of key sections planned for 2025–2027. The surveying services provided by HRDLIČKA spol. s r.o. guarantee the accuracy and quality of the implementation of even the most demanding technical units.
